Investment Options

Standard procedure: if applying after 36 months of residency a non-refundable contribution of €600,000 for the main applicant and €50,000 is added for each additional dependent;
Expedited procedure: if the applicant decides to apply on the 12th month or after only a year of residency a contribution of €750,000 is required and €50,000 for each additional dependent. That’s the minimum investment threshold.
Real Estate Investment: You can buy or rent property in Malta. Purchasing a family home for a minimum €700,000 and the property must be held for a minimum of 5 years or you can opt for a rental commitment of €90,000 over five years. The rental agreement must or contract of acquisition is required to be for a period of 36 months or 18 months by exception.
Donation: You must donate a mandatory amount of €10,000 to a Maltese non-profit organization.
Depending on which investment option you choose, you need a residency period of either 36 months or 12 months by exception in Malta before you apply for citizenship and must hold a valid residence card.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Maltese Citizenship program the main applicant and dependents must complete 4 tier due diligence check which will be completed by Community Malta Agency and must be paid by the applicant €15,000 for the main applicant and €10,000 for each additional dependent. Maltese government is known for its strict due diligence checks:
- Tier 1 – completed initial checks such as correct application fees and the required documentations must be submitted and approved before a residence card application will be submitted
- Tier 2 – once a residence card has been acquired an eligibility to apply for citizenship application must be submitted and all required documents must be complete and genuine.
- Tier 3 – the finals checks are made by the Community Malta Agency who will conduct further due diligence checks such as criminal records checks, source of funds checks which will be submitted to the Maltese Minister for affirmation of eligibility to be granted citizenship.
- Tier 4 – once an applicant is successful the investment must be paid before being invited to take an oath of allegiance in Malta and being grated a certificate of Naturalisation.
